St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School
A Catholic Liberal Education
Greenville, South Carolina
St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School provides a Catholic liberal education that forms the whole person—mind, will, heart, and body—so that students come to know God, love what is good, and delight in what is true and beautiful.
Education Directed Toward Worship
Education at St. Anthony of Padua is not primarily job-training or the acquisition of isolated skills. It is the cultivation of a human person as creature—created for truth, goodness, and beauty—so that the student comes to know, love, and serve God in this life and to be happy with Him forever in the next.
A Catholic school is first a community of students and scholars shaped about the mystery made present in the liturgy. The school’s first teaching is this mystery. The Mass sends the faithful community forth to carry on a second teaching: to penetrate with the liberal arts the whole mystery of creation and of that new and deeper creation which is Redemption.
Worship is the summit of education. The goal of learning is not merely quantifiable academic performance but communion with God. Classroom study, prayer, sacramental life, and school culture form one trajectory: to lead students from wonder to wisdom, and from wisdom to adoration.
An Integrated Curriculum
Our school teaches through an integrated approach in which students appropriate culture—through history, literature, art, music, language, and mathematics—so that their knowledge becomes wisdom, and their experiences become oriented toward God.
The curriculum builds one coherent education of the whole person. It combines historically grounded content, theology and catechesis as the key to unity, and the fine arts, language, mathematics, history, nature studies, and physical education as disciplined pathways to the cultivation of what is most human.
Culture is not content detached from faith. It is a living expression of the human desire for God, illuminated and fulfilled in Christ. The Church’s liturgy and moral teaching are not one more subject, but the center that gives unity to everything else.
Catholic Liberal Arts Tradition & Multi-Age Learning
We offer a classical Catholic liberal arts curriculum. Learning occurs in multi-age forms spanning 1st through 5th grade (middle school begins in 2027–2028). Each form typically includes a spread of two to three grade levels.
Mixed-age forms allow us to set aside rigid assumptions about ages and grade levels and ensure every child stretches toward the highest expectations. In the 2026–2027 school year we have three forms, created at the beginning of the year. The form represents one or two years worth of academic work aimed at mastery of knowledge, skills, habits and dispositions appropriate to that stage of formation. Faculty and students in the form become a learning community across all areas of study.
